The Tree Hill on the left of the Wetlands Centre and Cafe, has a small group of Trees that have been looking lonely for years. Our intention is to fill this entire strip with a variety of Native Irish Trees. Covid-19 did put a small stop to our endeavour as we only got to Plant Elder but 2021 we will be filling the area with carbon-absorbing Trees which are part of our Irish History. Our Celtic Ancestors considered Elder a spiritual tree and it was an offence to cut it. Elderflower wine was drank during the Feast of Bealtaine and Elderberry wine was drunk for Samhain.
