Our Eco Explorers Summer Camp got off to a great start on 9th July with a week full of education and activities for our little adventurers. The camp which will be run each year offers excellent adventure challenge activities, based around nature exploration and survival games interspersed with lessons about ecology, animal habitats and respect for the environment. The camp also aims to develop teamwork, confidence and leadership with all children participating in some light water sports activities and land based team building games.
'Eco Expolorers' Nature and Activity Camp is an Activity, Eco, Environmental, and most importantly Fun based summer camp.
We provide a safe environment for children to discover the natural treasures of the greater Tralee Bay Nature Reserve which is of European significance.
Day 1 - Discover and explore the Wetlands
Introductoin morning, Safari Nature Boat Tour Exploring the Wetlands and habitats, Flora finding and investigation. Team building games on activity lake (battleships) and main gren (blind football), survival skill - build a hut.
Day 2 - Beasts and bugs of the Wetlands
Junior mad bug scientist - investigating bug life under microscopes! Tour fo the wetlands incorporating mini beast and bug hunt, map reading and compass skills, team building games on activity lake and main green, survival skill - how to make and build a fishing rod and purify water.
Day 3 - Out and about in the elements
Everything you ever needed to know about the weather, wind, water, waves and tides. Pond dipping from safari boats, catching mini beasts on the move, orienteering, team building games on activity lake and main green, survival skills - hunting for food.
Day 4 - Birds of the Wetlands
Safari bird watching boat tour using binoculars, bird guides and maps, bird viewing and from identification bird hides, identification of small mammals on wetlands, team building games on activity lake adn main green, survival skill - Best camp selection
Day 5 - Wetlands Wildlife
Protect the environment and effects of pollution demo, guided nature walk around reserve, film on wetlands wildlife, team building games on activity lake(basketball) and main green (beat the instructor) , survival skills.
