News and Events at Tralee Bay Wetlands Eco & Activity Park

Tralee Bay Wetlands will host the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan’s 2023 Wild Bee Festival, which will take place on Saturday 12th and Sunday 13th August.

The Wild Bee Festival is an annual event raising awareness of Ireland’s pollinators and how to help them in local communities. The 2023 Festival is coordinated by the National Biodiversity Data Centre, in collaboration with Kerry County Council, Tralee Bay Wetlands, Transition Kerry, Tralee Tidy Towns and the Irish Wildlife Trust (Kerry branch). Set in the beautiful surroundings of the Tralee Bay Wetlands, the 2023 festival will feature a series of walks and talks led by biodiversity experts and community groups on pollinators and the simple actions we can take to help them.

All-Ireland Pollinator Plan co-founder Dr. Una Fitzpatrick said:

“We’re thrilled to be holding the 2023 Wild Bee Festival in Tralee. There has been some extraordinary work in and around the town to protect pollinators and raise awareness of these important insects. We’re delighted to be partnering with Tralee Bay Wetlands, Kerry County Council, Transition Kerry, Tralee Tidy Towns and the Irish Wildlife Trust (Kerry branch) to deliver this festival. If you’ve ever wanted to find out more about wild bees and how to help them, this is the event for you!”

Admission to most events is free. There is a fee for ticketed workshops, which must be booked separately in advance. More information, including a full festival programme, can be found on the All-Ireland Pollinator Plan website/
