Tralee Bay Wetlands Ecology Park is gearing up for another season of discovery as the Annual Bee Surveys return for 2026. Led by our Senior Ecologist Alan Balfe, the popular series invites the public to explore the fascinating world of Ireland’s wild bees across six survey dates throughout the year.

The 2026 programme begins on 25th March, followed by 15th April, 20th May, 10th June, 9th September, and 7th October, with each session running from 3:30pm to 4:30pm. Participants will join Alan on guided walks through the Wetlands, learning how to identify different bee species and contributing valuable records to the National Biodiversity Data Centre.

The surveys offer an engaging, hands‑on way for nature enthusiasts and families to deepen their understanding of pollinators and their vital role in Ireland’s ecosystems. Sessions take place monthly, excluding July and August, with the final survey concluding on 7 October.

As outdoor events, dates may be rescheduled in the event of wet weather. Updates will be shared on the Tralee Bay Wetlands Facebook Page.

The Bee Surveys are open to adults and children alike, with all children required to be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Everyone is welcome to take part. Tá fáilte roimh gach duine.
