Ecologist & Activity Supervisor
Qualifications;
• Level 7 Qualification in a Scientific & Environmental / Ecology discipline.
• Min 2 years’ experience in a relevant working environment.
• Candidate must be over 18years of age.
The role involves;
• The delivery of ecology modules to both Leaving & Junior Certificate classes / cycles.
• The delivery of school tours to both national schools and secondary schools.
• The delivery of children adventure activity birthday party packages.
• The delivery of activity packages to business and corporate groups.
• Supervision & Operation of Activities on activity lake including Pedalo Boats & Zorbs.
• The delivery of public guided boat tours.
• Assist with morning / evening open and close check lists & tasks.
• Development and Maintenance of the habitats of the Ecology Park and to assist the senior centre ecologist in same.
• The successful candidate will work as part of a team, but will also be required to work on his/her own initiative.
• Ensure high levels of customer service and satisfaction.
• Ensure that the Front Public Park, Visitor Centre, Nature Wetlands Area, 20 metre Viewing Tower and all facilities are maintained to a high standard, kept clean and free from litter at all times.
The successful candidate will report to the Centre Managers.
Rate of Pay €14.80 per hour
Please note: The applicant will be required to complete and return a Garda Vetting form should they come under consideration for appointment. Garda vetting is mandatory and paperwork must be complete prior to commencement.
In addition to the duties and responsibilities listed, the successful candidate is required to perform any other reasonable duties that may be assigned by the Manager and/or Management team, from time to time.
As the centre is a 7-day week operation, it will require and involve work during some evenings, weekends and public holidays to meet the needs of the post.

Tralee Bay is an important area for Ireland’s Natural Heritage, a Natura 2000 site comprising of a very diverse range of Coastal and Wetland Habitats that are important both Nationally and Internationally. Natura 2000 is the centrepiece of European Nature and Biodiversity Policy and consists of an EU-wide network of nature protection areas established under the 1992 Habitats Directive. The Bay is a Special Area of Conservation (SAC) designated by Ireland under this directive, as well as a Special Protection Area (SPA) under the 1979 Birds Directive. Additionally, the Bay was among the first Irish Sites to be designated under the International RAMSAR Convention, a treaty which provides the Framework for National Action and International Cooperation for the Conservation and wise use of Wetlands and their resources.
