The 2nd February annually is National Wetlands Day. The theme for this year is Wet-lands and Water Management. The key objective this year is to raise people's awareness of the inter-dependence between water and wet-lands, to highlight ways... that water can be better shared between groups and to understand that without wetlands there will be no water.
The Rose of Tralee Festival Air Display wowed crowds at the Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre on August 19th. Thousands of spectators turned up to watch the low flying aircrafts do their loops, spins and rolls and put on a fantastic show. The Irish Coast Guard, who retired their 34-year-old Sikorsky S61N helicopter in July 2012, displayed their shining new Sikorsky S92. The Irish Air Corps had their Casa CN-235 Maritime Patrol Aircraft.
A group of Roses and Escorts came down to us to meet and greet all the fans at the Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre. There was a great turnout with lots of excited children and adults also! Plenty of autograph books out to be signed and smiles all round for the cameras. Then commenced the all important Pedal Boat Race! The couples battled it out on the activity lake against eachother, pedalling as fast as possible.
