Tralee Bay Wetlands Centre will mark World Wetlands Day this weekend
World Wetlands Day is a celebration of one of our world's most vulnerable and yet most valuable natural habitats; it marks the adoption of the Ramsar Accord, a global treaty signed by over 150 countries that provides the framework for national action and international cooperation for the conservation and wise use of our fast-vanishing wetlands. At over 2000 Ramsar sites worldwide, schools, communities and organisations are celebrating everything that wetlands provide us, while raising awareness of the need to protect these fragile landscapes.
